Foggy is an international film distribution and marketing company founded by independent film producer Taro Imai in Fukuoka, Japan in 2021. Its mission is to deliver filmmakers’ passion to their right audiences utilizing new technologies. Foggy especially focuses on theatrical distribution of up-and-coming directors from all over the world.

TARO IMAI
CEO & FOUNDER
After studying film production at Los Angeles City College and working as a boom operator, he came back to Japan and worked for car company Daihatsu Motor and trading company Mitsubishi Corporation for the next 10 years where he gained the international business skill. During that time, he continued studying screenwriting and made some short films.
He left the trading company after that and started his career as an independent film producer launching Harakiri Films in 2015. In 2016, he produced feature film ERIKO, PRETENDED which was released theatrically in Japan and in Thailand in 2018 after traveling many international film festivals. Korea-Japan coproduction film THE GOOSE GOES SOUTH which he worked as an associate producer was screened at Warsaw Film Festival 2018 and released theatrically in Korea and Japan.
He has participated in EAVE Ties That Bind, Busan Asian Film School, Talents Tokyo, Rotterdam Lab, Asia Pacific Screen Lab, and SEAFIC x PAS. While developing and producing several independent international coproduction films mainly by up-and-coming directors, he started new distribution company Foggy in 2021. -
YUKIO MORIGUCHI
SENIOR ADVISER
After joining a trading company, he worked in the sales department, product development, and business development. After developing a newly launched department into a top division, he became the president of an in-house venture company. After serving as the head of the business development office, he moved to overseas business and launched a new base in India and put it on track. Later, based in Hong Kong, he was responsible for the overall management of the company's Asian operations, including the restructuring of the company's Asian operations. After returning to Japan, he became an auditor at the head office. After that, he became an independent consultant. Currently, he mainly works as a consultant for apparel and trading companies.
He met Mr. Imai when he was working for the trading company. When Mr. Imai started Harakiri Films, Moriguchi supported him with high expectations because of his passion for 8mm film production, which he had immersed himself in as a student, and he joined Foggy as an advisor. -
SHOHACHI FUNAE
CTO
He has been engaged in the development of dynamic web applications using programming languages such as PHP, JAVA and Adobe ColdFusion / Flash since he was a university student.
After graduating, participating in the establishment of "SIer,Inc." and work for software contract development business.
In 2016, he established "SaaS Inc." and became the representative director/CEO (current position). While he is involved in various industries in his main business’s software service,
he met Mr.Taro Imai, the representative of the company, when we launched a promotion support and official website production business for the Japanese movie industry.
He participated in Foggy as CTO.
